UNELTA invited applications for the following positions on the next Executive Committee:
1. Position: President
The president, among other roles,
• Provides administrative services to the association.
• Represents the association at conferences, meetings and or seminaries.
• Manages the association`s expenditure and or finances
• Manages the human resources with the best of practices required in human resource management practices.
• Produces reports of all kinds of events to the G.A, partners and or funders.
• Ensures that each member of the executive committee does his duties as required by the committee and or the G.A.
• Coordinates and manages contracts between associations, partners, organizations and or NGOs.
• Convenes emergency meetings as deemed necessary.
• Ensures that all association’s properties are in order, e.g. furniture, books of accounts, files, Internet connection, website, social media sites, postal address, water and electricity supply if any.
• Ensures that the office premises are suitable and fit for daily running of the association.
• Provides accountability to the G.A at the end of each finance year, i.e., August of each calendar year.
• In circumstances where the chairperson is unable to execute any of the roles, s/he has the power to delegate any member of the executive committee to perform his /her duties.
Qualification
The president of the association should:
• Have at least three years of teaching experience.
• Have at least a bachelor degree in Arts with Education and or English language.
• Have a good networking experience and ability
• Posses good management skills
• Good communication skills in both spoken and written form of the language.
• Be a team leader and able to move from place to place.
• Have the ability to translate project proposals into deliverable variables, coordinate project activities, write and present reports.
• Be a member of the association.
2) Vice President
• The vice president’s role is to deputize the president, except that he or she does not have the right to delegate any member to perform a duty in which s/he is functioning as a deputy.
Qualification
The vice president of the association should:
• Posses at least three years of teaching experience.
• Have at least a bachelor degree in Arts with Education and or English language.
• Have a good networking experience and ability
• Posses good management skills
• Good communication skills in both spoken and written form of the language.
• Be a team leader and able to move from place to place
• Be able to be delegate.
• Have proof of being the association’s member.
3) General Secretary (G.S)
The major role of the G.S is to assist the chairperson in ensuring the smooth functioning of the executive committee. The secretary is responsible for:
• Liaising with the chairperson to plan and ensuring that meetings are effectively organized and recorded.
• Maintaining effective records.
• Performing some administrative tasks as endorsed by the president.
• Upholding the legal requirements of governing the association’s documents.
• Coordinating all communication and correspondence from within and outside the association.
• Receives agenda items from committee members before meetings are set.
• Circulates agendas and reports during meetings.
• Takes minutes of the E.C and the G.A meetings and or any other meetings.
• Circulates approved minutes during meetings.
• Checks that agreed actions are carried out.
• Keeps up-to-date contact details, i.e., names, addresses, and telephone numbers of the E.C and ordinary members of the association where necessary.
• Files minutes and reports.
• Compiles names, addresses and telephone numbers which are useful to the association
• Keeps records of the association`s activities.
• Keeps current and future work plan of the association.
• S/he protects the association`s documents.
• Checks that the quorum is realized in meetings.
• Ensures that charity and association`s law by-law if any are met.
• Sits on appraised recruitment and disciplinary panels as required.
• Response to all committee correspondence.
• Files all committee correspondence received and copies of replies sent.
• Keeps record of any of the association’s publications.
• Prepares reports of the association`s activities: projects and annual reports.
• S/he can delegate some of the duties to a member of the E.C deemed appropriate for the purpose except the chairperson.
• S/he is a reference point to the members of the E.C.
• S/he reports to the chairperson.
Qualification
The applicant for this position should posses:
• At least three years of experience in a related field.
• A bachelor degree in English language as a minimum qualification.
• Knowledge of documents protection.
• Good communication skills in both speaking and writing.
• Provide prove of being a member of the UNELTA.
4) Public Relations Officer (PRO)
The major role of the PRO is to manage the reputation of the association. S/he:
• Plans, develops and implements public relation strategies.
• Liaises with members of the executive committee, and answers enquiries from Media individuals and or organization(s), as may be directed by the chairperson and or the EC.
• Collates and edits media coverage
• Writes and edits in- house magazines, case studies, speeches and or articles,
• Prepares and supervise the production and or publicity of brochures, handouts, direct mail films,
• Maintains and updates information on the website.
• Manages and or updates information and engages with users on social media sites such as face book twitter and or whatsapp, if any, as expected by the E.C and or the G.A
• Manages the public relation aspect of a potential crisis situation as indicated by the chairperson and or the E.C
• In case the General Secretary is deemed unable to coordinate some communication and correspondence from within and outside the association, the PRO can help to do so.
• S/he can be delegated by the chairperson to do other duties deemed necessary.
• S/he research for the concerns and expectations of the association`s stakeholders, reports and explains findings to the chairperson.
• The PRO reports to the chairperson

• Hold a Bachelor of Arts with Education, having English and Literature as subjects of specialization or higher in a related field.
• Have excellent communication skills in both speaking and writing.
• Be flexible and willing to be delegated.
• Be a member of UNELTA and provide prove of membership.
5. Assistant Public Relations Officer
• The assistant PRO executes the same roles as the PRO, except that s/he operates in the capacity of an assistant.
• If the PRO is absent, s/he performs the roles of the PRO.
• S/he reports directly to the PRO.
Qualification
An interested applicant for this position should:
• Posses a desirable experience in the same line of job.
• Hold a Bachelor of Arts with Education, having English and Literature as subjects of specialization or a degree in a related field.
• Have excellent communication skills in both speaking and writing.
• Be flexible and willing to be delegated.
• Be ready to take up the PRO’s responsibilities in case s/he is absent
• Be a member of UNELTA and provide prove of membership.
6) Treasurer
The treasurer is the accountant of the association. S/he:
• Ensures that the accounting books are in order,
• Keeps records of all transactions,
• Procures any item(s) deemed necessary by the E.C and the G.A through the endorsement from the President,
• Collects membership fees and or any payable fees in terms of contribution, fine, donation and fund raising.
• Under instruction from the chairperson, s/he pays salaries, provides allowances, and or bonuses.
• Keeps records of such payments, allowances and or bonuses including names, addresses and telephone numbers of such persons who receive them.
Qualification
An interested applicant for this position should:
• Posses a desirable experience in the same line of job.
• At least have a credit in mathematics.
• Hold a Bachelor of Arts with Education, having English and Literature as subjects of specialization or a degree in a related field.
• Have excellent communication skills in both speaking and writing.
• Be flexible and willing to be delegated.
• Be a member of UNELTA and prove his or her membership to the association.
7) Membership Officer
The applicant for this position:
• Ensures that new members joined the association
• S/he develops membership forms and liaises with the G.S and the PRO so as to upload it (them) on the website, and or provides it to individual(s), group(s), organization (s) and or the media.
• Keeps up-to-date records of both new and old members, i.e. names, addresses and telephone numbers of all members of the association and provides copies of such records to the G.S
• S/he can be delegated by the G.S to perform other duties
• S/he reports directly to the G.S.
Qualification
An interested applicant for this position of membership officer should:
• Be willing to take up the position with commitment, or Posses a desirable experience in the same line of job.
• Have a good filing system.
• Hold a Bachelor of Arts with Education, having English and Literature as subjects of specialization or a degree in a related field.
• Posses at least three years of teaching experience.
• Have excellent communication skills in both speaking and writing.
• Be flexible and willing to be delegated.
• Be a member of UNELTA and provide prove of membership.
